Here is my Wedge story. No, that’s not me on the lip.
When your mom was first born, we lived a few miles from the Wedge. Your mom and aunties, Tiff and Tia, were playing near the water when a large set like this came in. The powerful rip current started to pull Tiff and Tia out to sea. I was able to grab Tia, who was closest to me. A friend, Steve, ran past me, grabbed, and tossed Tiff back to me.
Steve got sucked out. If he had his fins, he wouldn’t have needed a ride from the lifeguards up the coast where he could swim in safely.
It still amazes me how powerful the Wedge sucks the water back out. See the white foam in front of the lady. That’s how deep the water was that sucked the kids out.
