Sorry for taking so long to respond. Had a couple of client projects that occupied my time.
Yes, that is Melanie at her going-away party on School Street. We always thought you were the magical fairy princess, not the tropical waif.
I robbed the cradle. Patty was nearly 18 years my junior. My daughters joked that they would be changing my diapers and not them. She lived 5 years after her breast cancer metastasized. Being one’s caregiver and assisting them in their death is a life-changing experience. It doesn’t surprise me that you would step up to care for your sister and daughter, even without the promise to your mom. Part of a caregiver’s job is to take care of themselves. Make sure you do that.
I forgot about Jeff. Sad that so many of the old group are no longer with us.
So it’s not a little house on the prairie but a big house on the prairie. I’ll bet you have some great childhood stories. I’ve always lived next to the ocean. Never lived inland.
I’ll be getting back to Kaneohe later this year or the first of next year. I try to get back every year to see the kids and grandkids. I’ll let you know when I’m there, and we can meet if you are in Kailua.
Hugs and XO back at you.
